College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences JHANG

    College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CVAS) 

The College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CVAS) was established in 2006 as the sub-campus of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS). It is located 12 km away from dist. Jhang. In 2006,Prof.Dr.Ashiq Cheema laid the foundation of this institution and acted as principal for 4 years. In 2010, Prof.Dr.Muhammad Younus Rana replaced Prof.Dr.Ashiq Cheema and he was serving as principal till now.





Building

The building of college is spread over 100 acre (0.40 km2). The college building comprises academic block (comprises lecture theatres, non-clinical laboratories, conference room and seminar room),clinical sciences block (comprises clinical laboratories including medicine,theriogenology and surgery labs.), veterinary hospital, postmortem lab, auditorium, library, cafeteria, mosque,residential area( for employees) and hostels ( for girls and boys). it is about 12 km away from  city at chiniot road


CVAS Research Center 

It is located near Chenab College,Jhang. Research on Livestock breeds and poultry is done here.
Degree Programmes
CVAS offers 5 years degree program of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and 2 years diploma in Livestock Assistant Department (LAD) .


Departments

There are five departments dealing with academic activities.
1) Basic Sciences
2) Pathobiology
3) Clinical Sciences
4) Animal Sciences
5) Social Sciences


Activities at CVAS

CVAS encourages the spirit of students towards academic and non-academic activities. World's rabies day, Egg day, Women day and Farm and Field activity day etc is celebrated annually at CVAS. Different societies are working actively to encourage and support the talent of students. Debating society "PUKAAR" organizes different speech and debate competitions on National and religious events.  Literary society "Fikr-o-Fun" organizes different seminars to raise the literary taste and artful skills of students. Dramatic club "Tamseel Nagri" organizes different colorful nights to present plays on different social issues. All these societies take part in the events of the annual spring festival. Besides curricular and co-curricular activities, CVAS also provide opportunities to students to show their sportsman's spirit in sports and annually sports day is also held here.
